Killzone 3 PS3 Beta Available Only for PlayStation Plus Subscribers

You must already know about Sony’s announcement of a multiplayer beta for their 3D flagship shooter killzone 3 that will begin later this month on October 25. But the closed beta will only be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers.

The beta testing, which will be giving lucky Killzone fans a chance to experience frantic multiplayer action with jetpacks and exoskeleton vehicles, will be used by Sony to drive subscribers to their Playstation Plus service.

Access codes will be given out to PlayStation Plus subscribers only. According to the Playstation blog, 5,000 Playstation Plus subscribers will be admitted. In addition to that, Sony claims that it will be giving away more keys through Facebook and Twitter.

It is not known whether there will be an open beta available. The game doesn’t ship until February 22, 2011. So there won’t be enough time available for Guerilla to fix up any problems in the closed beta and then make an open beta available for everyone else.

It is difficult to convince someone that the Killzone 3 beta is worth a PlayStation Plus subscription, but it will certainly be a rare early look for the rabid Killzone fan. Just to refresh your memory, the subscription for 3 months costs $17.99, while a year’s access will cost you $49.99.
