Halo Creator Teases About MMO

October 6, 2010, By Christian Davis

Creative director, Joe Staten, hinted that Bungie’s next project is going to be a Shooter MMO or MMORPG(Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). Stating “Wouldn’t it be great if we could make a world that was already there for you.”

This happened at the Game Developers Conference 2010 Online in Joe Staten’s keynote titled “Writing the Whirlwind: 10 Years on the Frontlines Of HALO Storytelling and Beyond.” It’s not new, that Bungie stated they were done with the Halo franchise and wanted to expand into a new universe. There was an attempt at a Halo MMO years ago, which was cancelled despite it’s $90 Million Dollar Budget(shown above) and the other shooter MMO, Huxley, is still in limbo.

A shooter MMO buy Bungie could definitely be  a good thing, but a Halo MMO would have been amazing. There’s still a lot of the Halo Universe we know nothing about(unless you’re read the books). The Covenant’s planet and history, origins of various Spartans, and a lot more could be expanded on in the Halo universe.

Either way, this is still some great news and hopefully at next years E3, we can see something in relation to the Shooter MMO.
