Virgin Mobile Samsung Intercept Available Now for $249.99 Contract-Free

Earlier, we had reported when Virgin Mobile USA announced that it will be offering the Samsung Intercept Android handset. But the carrier had kept silent about the pricing and availability of the device which is Virgin’s first Android device. Now, the device is available from Virgin for $249.99 (contract-free) at Target stores nationwide.

The Android 2.1 device comes with a 3.2-inch touchscreen display and features a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The device will also have a 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS and WiFi connectivity.

The Samsung Intercept comes preloaded with multiple applications, including such favorite social apps such as YouTube, Facebook and Google Talk as well as the Virgin Mobile Live app used to access Virgin Mobile’s branded music stream.

Additional features include access to the Amazon MP3 store, dedicated keys for quick access to social networking and many more.

The plans offered by the Virgin Mobile include unlimited text, e-mail, data, web access and voice starting at just $25 a month. The pricing increases depending on the amount of minutes, with 1200 voice minutes at $40 a month and unlimited voice at $60 a month.

It was also announced that the device will roll out to other major retailers throughout the month and will be available for purchase at the Virgin Mobile’s website by mid-October.
