If you have been waiting for the Android 2.2 Froyo on the Samsung Captivate  look no further! Though the Froyo update has not yet come to the Samsung device as is the case with all the Galaxy handsets, guys at XDA – developers have gone the unofficial route to get the Froyo update for Captivate owners.

The Android 2.2 Froyo update is now available for download here. The Android 2.2 build UCJI6 comes with a promise of support for 3G mobile hotspot, Adobe Flash Player 10.1, Media Hub, apart from a JIT compiler. The update also includes a handful of fixes and tweaks to the user interface.

Samsung Captivate, now on the AT&T network, can now be installed with the Android 2.2 Froyo build UCJI6, though the update comes as unofficial. So if you are ready to say yes to a void on your warranty, the update can be yours.

All you need to do is to root your Captivate handset and download and install the Android 2.2 build UCJI6 right now. In case you are interested, we have a video too here.
