Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Launch Date Confirmed

October 4, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Microsoft has announced that the Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system will be launched on October 11, confirming media expectations. The confirmation has come in the form of an invitation for a Windows Phone 7 Worldwide Launch Event.

The event, which will take place in New York starting at 3PM EST on Monday, will last for an hour and a half, and will include keynotes from Microsoft executives, a demo of Windows Phone 7 products and solution, and availability with T-Mobile representatives for product demos.

Earlier, it was reported by the Wall Street Journal that Microsoft would indeed launch Windows Phone 7 on the 11th of October and the report also suggested that AT&T would be its initial, exclusive launch partner. But there was no mention of AT&T on the invitation that was posted on Microsoft’s own site.

Microsoft has also confirmed that a similar event will be held in the UK, which judging by the US start time will be around 10am. We will be around to cover all the action as it happens, so stay tuned.
