Samsung Transform & Sanyo Zio Headed for Sprint, Leaks Reveal

October 1, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Two new Android smartphones are coming to Sprint in the near future. A leaked internal Sprint document is proof that the Samsung Transform and the Kyocera Sanyo Zio will be arriving at Sprint soon.

There is not much known about the Samsung Transform, but it is thought that the device might be a phone in the Galaxy S series. The Transform in the leaked image resembles the Epic 4G, but the device does not have a flip out QWERTY keyboard (a first for Sprint’s Galaxy S lineup).

As you know, the Galaxy S series runs Android 2.1, so the Samsung Transform may also come with Android 2.1 too or may be 2.2 if it comes out after the update launch.

The Zio will be coming equipped with a 3.5-inch touchscreen (resolution of 800×480) with a trackball. There will be a 3.2-megapixel camera and 256MB of internal storage. It will also have a microSDHC slot for increasing the storage capacity.

There is no confirmation of arrival dates for the two phones, but you can expect to see them sometime soon. It is most likely that one or all of the new handsets are introduced at the CTIA show next week. The BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330, also seen in the picture, got shipped off to Sprint just this last week.
