Samsung Continuum for Verizon Revealed; Comes With Dual Screens

October 1, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Earlier, some leaked blurry pictures of the Samsung Continuum (Verizon’s next Galaxy S handset) were circulating online. Now, new pictures of the device have surfaced and they give us an opportunity to take a good look at the device which comes with dual screens.

Just now, we had reported about a Verizon roadmap leak which showed the list of the carrier’s smartphone and tablet offerings for the coming months. The Samsung Continuum was spotted in the list, obviously, and the phone will be arriving in late October.

One of the main features of the phone is that it will be coming equipped with two screens. Below the 4-inch super-AMOLED screen, the device will feature a secondary ‘Ticker’ display. The ticker will provide users with access to primary phone functions like RSS updates and weather updates, which will help in improving the battery life of the device to a great extent.

The ticker will be activated automatically when you pick up the phone because the device will be coming with a grip sensor. The ticker will also be touch sensitive, which will allow you to swipe from side to side to view different updates on it.

The phone will be running on Android 2.2 with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top of it. The device will also feature the same 1GHz Hummingbird processor as other Galaxy S phones, 336MB of RAM and will bear the model name SCH-i400.
