Panasonic Lumix Phone to be Unveiled Next Week at CEATEC; Specs Revealed

October 1, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Panasonic has announced that they will be unveiling a new cellphone, the so called Lumix phone, at the IT and electronics exhibition (CEATEC) scheduled for next week in Japan. The company may not sell many cellphones outside Japan, but considering how famous Panasonic’s Lumix camera range is around the world, a Lumix phone might actually do very well.

The company has set up a Japanese teaser site than reveals little about the phone other than that its features will be revealed on October 5. There are no pictures of the mysterious phone available now, but Panasonic has revealed some of its specs.

The phone will be coming equipped with a colossal 13 megapixel CMOS sensor and a 3.3-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 854×480. The phone will have Panasonic’s Mobile VenusEngine, WiFi with DLNA media streaming and a microSDHC slot.

The phone, which tips the scales at 146g and measures 116x52x17.7mm, will also feature Panasonic’s Jump Picture technology which will allow you to quickly share photos with your friends.  Panasonic’s press release has also indicated a folding mechanism for this handset, which suggests that the phone will most likely be a clamshell device.

More information on the Lumix phone is expected to be available soon. So stay tuned.
