Several Australian media organizations are reporting that the Samsung Galaxy Tab will be released in Australia in November and it will be arriving at the country’s three major phone carriers. The tablet will be having a price tag of AUD $999 if bought off-contract.

As you already know, the Android-powered tablet includes telephone functionality, runs on a Cortex A8 1.0GHz Processor and has a 7-inch display. It will have 16GB of internal memory storage and the ability to support 32GB of additional memory via an add-in module. The tablet also has 512MB of RAM.

The Galaxy tablet will also sport two cameras, a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video calling and a 3 megapixel camera with LED Flash on its back. Additional features include Flash 10.1, HD video playback and a 7 hour battery.

But the revelation of the price has come as a surprise for Australian executives, since the Apple iPad’s 16GB WiFi and 3G model costs only $799. The iPad also comes with a bigger screen size of 9.7 inches.

But, there have been other Android tablets on the market already and the Galaxy Tab is the first that truly qualifies as a rival to the iPad. Let us wait and see where the fight goes.
