September 23, 2010, By Alex Ion

Samsung Captivate users should be happy to know that AT&T is working on an OTA update that will fix the GPS issues that have plagued the device — at least this time, those of you with a Captivate in their hands are sure that they’ll no longer have to deal with any sort of hit or miss location functionality.

Other than handling the GPS support, this over-the-air update is also said bring other enhancements that include improved media scanning time, the full version of Quickoffice. We’re also hearing that it will address the Microsoft Exchange 2003 policy support.

AT&T will release the update to all devices, but you need to understand that it will take a few days, weeks, for everyong to get it. When it will be available for your Samsung Captivate you’ll receive a notification on your handset, to download and install. Of course you can always force the download a bit by going to Settings>About Phone>System Updates, but it doesn’t work for everyone.

Now all we can wait is the Galaxy S phones to get Froyo … right?
