Samsung Galaxy S Android 2.2 Update Likely in October

The Android 2.2 Froyo update to the Samsung Galaxy S might be coming in October. According to Samsung Mobile Spain fan page on Facebook, the smartphone might receive the Android 2.2 treatment sometime by the end of October.

Samsung had earlier confirmed that the update would be made available sometime in September. The company had also stated that all of its U.S. versions of the Samsung Galaxy S such as the Fascinate, Captivate, Epic, and Vibrant would also be upgraded to Froyo almost simultaneously as their European counterpart.

Now, the Samsung’s Spanish Facebook page has revealed a date for the update, and it will be through Samsung Kies. But it is unclear if the announcement is intended for customers in the local market, or the rest of the world including the US. But it seems highly unlikely that the update is going to be locked down for just users in Spain. So we can presume that this update will be available to everyone else as well.

Samsung might confirm the exact date of release of the update in the coming days. So keep checking this space for further updates on the matter.
