Sony PS3 System Software Update v3.50 is Available Now

September 21, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

PlayStation 3 firmware version 3.50 is now live and available for download over the PlayStation Network. We had posted reports about the update, which was announced last week at the Tokyo Game Show to be available on September 21, and it’s now available, on time, as promised.

As you already know, the update will mainly be adding support for 3D Blu-Ray movies. It will give PS3 owners the ability to playback 3D content on supported Blu-Ray discs.

A few days after the announcement, new features of the update were revealed on the PlayStation website. The features included Facebook connectivity and the ability to report XMB messages.

The Facebook connectivity feature will let you post the details of the PS3 game that you are playing, on your Facebook wall. With Facebook integration, developers will be able to create PS3 games that have more interaction with Facebook.

The second feature will allow you to report messages from the XMB to Sony. With the Grief Reporting Function users can send claim reports directly from the XMB for any inappropriate messages they receive from other PlayStation Network users.

More news on the matter is expected to be available soon. So stay tuned.
