September 21, 2010, By Thomas Antony

The guys over at DroidLife have gotten the official word about the arrival of the Android 2.2 update on the Verizon DROID X. The update is due on September 22, 2010, at 12:00 PM ET. This is in line with Motorola’s promise to deliver Android 2.2 on the DROID X in summer, considering that tomorrow is the last day of summer.

An update document posted by Verizon has confirmed that the update is in fact going to fly out tomorrow at noon, and it will come with all the much awaited Froyo goodies. This include Flash 10.1 support in the browser and improved visual voicemail with Bluetooth support. You can also look forward to a refreshed mobile hotspot app, and some bugfixes to prevent data connections from dropping as you move between WiFi and 3G coverage.

Also, this time you want have to wait for the OTA updates to roll out. You can manually update your DROID X to Froyo goodness, by going to Settings > About Phone > System Updates.
