Apple’s much anticipated 27-inch Cinema Display, which was announced in late July, has started shipping. It seems that Apple will not be giving away the market, to Dell, that easily. (Dell has started shipping its UltraSharp U3011 Monitor).

The new Apple display, which effectively replaces Apple’s 30-inch cinema display, matches the design of a MacBook Pro. It comes with a resolution of 2560×1440, LED backlighting and an amazing 178-degree viewing angle.

It will also be coming equipped with a MagSafe connector that charges your notebook, a mini DisplayPort cable for easy connectivity and 3 USB 2.0 ports. The display also features an ambient light sensor that helps in automatically adjusting the screen’s brightness based on the lighting conditions.

The display also comes with a built-in iSight camera, microphone and 49-Watt 2.1 speaker system for a true desktop experience. To add to all these features, the display is also compatible with Mac desktop computers that have a mini DisplayPort- Mac Pro, Mac Mini and iMac.

The aluminum and glass LED display is now being sold through Apple’s online store and it is having a price tag of $999.
