HTC Aria Gets an Update, Android 2.2 Froyo Not Yet Included

September 15, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The HTC Aria, AT&T’s second Android phone, has received an update. Users of the phone have reported receiving a minor update which provides fixes and brings some new features. But the nice little phone, which has the HTC Sense on top of Android 2.1, is still not getting Android 2.2 (Froyo).

The update includes, Firmware Over The Air Activation (FOTA) capability implemented, Bluetooth update, and Calendar Fix for recurring meetings (when recurring meetings are modified on the device, they are not syncing the changes with the Microsoft Exchange Server).

You will not need the help of a computer to update Aria again, since new Android firmware can now be sent over the air to the device. We can hope that there is a Froyo update coming sometime soon.

But HTC needs to be doing more when it comes to the matter of updating its devices. The carriers may be proving to be a problem, as we heard that the MyTouch 3G and MyTouch Slide were going to get Froyo soon and that news was back in July.  We are yet to hear any improvements on the matter.
