Sony Xperia X10 Android 2.1 (Eclair) Upgrade Expected in a Couple of Weeks

September 13, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The Sony Xperia X10 with the Android 2.1 upgrade has been spotted in Europe.  The confirmation has come via a video that explains it all. Though there hasn’t yet been any official word on it, the video proves beyond doubt the upgrade is on.

The surfacing of the video gives us hints about a soon-to-come announcement on this. The phone has been spotted at the IFA 2010 recently and that could very well mean that an official roll out of the Eclair OS X10 is just round the bend.

Most probably, the official roll out could happen in a matter of a couple of weeks, that is by the end of this month itself. What does it have for you? A 4-inch display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 8-megapixel camera, access to the Android Market, Timescape and Mediascape custom user interface  are what you should expect. Plus, a slew of Google services are to be the standard offerings.

In case you are seriously looking at pocketing a new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, which is to be on the AT&T carrier network, we suggest you should wait till the month-end. A couple of weeks of patience could get you the Eclair-laden X10.  See the video for yourself:
