Apple iPad Rumored to Start Selling at Target on Oct 3

September 13, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Apple’s iPad will see some spread out in terms of retail, starting this October.  Rumors suggest that beginning October 3, the touchscreen tablet will start selling at Target’s outlets too.

Target is said to be gearing up to put on its sales racks a new product and the prices being elaborated make it look like the unnamed product that the retailer is talking about is the iPad.

Six price points have been revealed, and  they are the same as what the iPad has been selling at. The prices band for the iPad ranges from $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi-only model, to $829 for the 64GB model with 3G.

The unnamed product (see the screenshot of the device that Engadget has managed to get) set to hit Target is headed for the Digital Audi department, and that confirms that the product is the iPad. We assume so because the Digital Audio department at target already has Apple’s other products, such as the iPods.

A look back at what Apple had during the launch of the iPad would further reveal that the Target retail  product could be the iPad. Though Apple had kept the iPad  available at a limited number of locations, the company had then said that the iPad’s availability  would expand over time.

After Target, it could be Wal-Mart who is going to get the iPad on its racks, and that could happen some time later this year itself.
