Mirror’s Edge for the iPhone – What to Expect

September 10, 2010, By Radimir Bobev

Even though the iPhone version of the all-popular game Mirror’s Edge is vastly different from the one on the PC, the developers have still managed to preserve the core aspects of the gameplay which make it so fun and exciting, and have developed a title that truly deserves your attention as a serious gamer.

The game plays quite differently in a technical sense – instead of freely exploring rooftops, your character runs constantly in a specific direction, and you’ll have to help her avoid obstacles and find the most efficient routes across the visible space. You’ll only be swiping your fingers across the screen to control the character, so forget about any clumsy control schemes. Best of all, the game feels very responsive, something which you just can’t say for the majority of titles on the platform.

On the other hand, some of the negatives of the original title have sadly carried over to the mobile version as well – for example, those clumsy indoor scenes that plagued the PC version have returned, and are more inconvenient than ever. The developers didn’t seem to realize that the beauty of this game came from its rooftop action and not tightly maneuvering around corridors, but thankfully those sequences aren’t that common at least.
