Farmville’s Boss Not the Pleasant Character You’d Expect

While Farmville is a great, fun small game for killing time, it seems the main person behind it isn’t such a bucket of fun as you might expect from his creation. Quite the contrary, he seems to fit the stereotype of a tycoon with his primary interests based in his wallet.

According to a source which desired to remain anonymous, Zynga, the developer of FarmVille, was primarily focused on the monetary benefits the game brings. According to an ex-employee of the company, its boss, Mark Pincus at one point stated the following: “I don’t f***ing want innovation. You’re not smarter than your competitor. Just copy what they do and do it until you get their numbers.”

This may seem like a random one-time statement, but no – various employees of the company have stated in a recent interview that it’s actually the primary method of operation for them to steal other companies’ ideas and incorporate them into their own titles, using the company’s huge market potential as leverage over the creators of the original ideas. The company even seems to have an unofficial internal motto of “Do Evil”, a play on Google’s “Don’t Be Evil” – while we can’t confirm whether or not that’s true, we can definitely guess based on this information.
