Mass Effect 2 Statistics Revealed

September 8, 2010, By Radimir Bobev

The executive producer behind BioWare’s Mass Effect 2, Casey Hudson, has just made official some interesting statistics related to the game – and we’re not talking about the boring stuff like “X copies sold in Y months”, this is actually about in-game activities and players’ performance.

The statistics have been gathered by the game thanks to various pieces of code scattered around the engine with the sole purpose of mining gameplay information – something like Valve’s statistics system, though a bit more diverse. As an example, the stats show how many of the players chose to skip the game’s dialogues – according to the numbers, about 15% of the total conversations in the game were skipped by players.

The game takes 33 hours on average to go through entirely, and about half of the players imported old savegames from the first Mass Effect when starting their game. If you’re interested in reading more of the stats, you can do so at IGN’s site. And if you wait until January when the game comes out on the PS3, you’ll probably get to read even more juicy bits.
