HTC Desire Android 2.2 Update for O2 Goes Live, Causes Software Problems, Gets Halted

It was on some time ago, but now it is off!  Though O2 had confirmed a few hours ago that the Android 2.2 update was live on HTC Desire and ready for download, the carrier has now stated that it had to halt updates.

O2 had confirmed to TechRadar that the Android 2.2 Froyo update for HTC Desire went live on O2 this morning, but the update was pulled back owing to complaints from customers who had said they were having problems with installing the software.

While it was live, many a customer had been able to download the update successfully. With the issues now coming to the fore, O2 is now looking to repair things and bring it back on track for download.

However, what we get to understand is that O2 will keep the update suspended till it is able to get a real feel of what the issues are – customers complained of freezing – and then bring it on again.

The freezing issue of the Froyo has been elaborated by customers who said that the handset continued to stay on the O2 loading screen indefinitely.

Meanwhile, many other complaints centred round issues like certain websites crashing the browser and the like.  In the meantime, the lucky ones were able to download the update with no hassle whatsoever!
