HP Envy Notebooks Updated; Special Versions Include Envy 17 3D and Envy 14 Beats Edition

HP has updated its Envy series with the Envy 17 3D and Envy 14 Beats Edition. The HP Envy 17 3D is an update to the Envy 17 which made its debut back in May. The device is officially the first ATI-based 3D laptop.

It comes equipped with an Intel Core i7 central processing unit which is paired with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 discrete graphics and up to 2TB of storage.

The 17.3-inch Display is capable of 1080p playback in 3D, and is bundled with active shutter glasses to produce stereoscopic 3D image functionality.

It features both Blu-ray drive and a new version of MediaSmart app that will play 3D movies. It also comes with a built-in 2.1-channel Beats audio system as well as HP’s Triple Bass Reflex subwoofer.

The HP Envy 14 Beats Edition is aimed at all the music fanatics out there. It comes with Beats audio built-in and also included in the package is the Beats Solo in-ear headphones. Envy 14 Beats comes with a 14.5 inch display with a resolution of 1366×768. It features a Core i5 processor and 4GB of RAM.

The device comes with a battery good for a maximum 6.5 hours of battery life and also features a red keyboard backlight. It also features Mobility Radeon HD 5650 video and a 640GB, 7,200RPM hard drive.

Envy 14 Beats Edition is currently available for a starting price of $1250, while the Envy 17 3D will be available sometime this holiday season. No confirmation on the pricing, though HP hints at a price below $2,000.
