HTC Droid Incredible Gets Android 2.2 Froyo Update on September 1st

August 26, 2010, By Atul Roach

The Google Nexus One users were the first ones to get lucky with the Android Froyo update and it rightly deserved to be the ‘first one‘, but a number of other top-notch Android powered smartphones have been devoid of the same treatment. A top of the line gadget in this list is the Verizon locked HTC Incredible which currently runs the Android Eclair version and it has long been waiting to receive the Android 2.2 Froyo update.

The owners of this Verizon locked smartphone will be pleased to know that there are rumors doing rounds on the web that claim the Froyo update will arrive for the Incredible on the first day of September, 2010.

This implies that the Incredible owners should get ready to run Adobe Flash version 10.1, although running Flash 10.1 may affect the battery life. Also, the update is expected to render mobile hotspot functionality along with 720p HD video recording capability.

Another important addition, courtesy of Froyo, will be the ability to port applications directly onto the SD card which of course cannot be done with Eclair on-board.

The tricky part is that the Froyo update for HTC Incredible is a rumor and we cannot take the gamble of trusting this information thoroughly, as there were rumors earlier that suggested the update will arrive in December.
