Apple’s iTV Gets Apps in September

August 23, 2010, By Radimir Bobev

As some of you probably know, there’s an upcoming revamp of Apple’s TV called “iTV” headed for a September launch, and what we’ve been able to confirm so far includes a variety of information, such as a $99 price tag and the iOS running behind the scenes. The device is also stated to feature apps support, pretty much like Apple’s iPhone and iPad.

According to Steve Jobs, the device isn’t exactly top priority for the company at the moment, as it’s seen as a more of a “hobby” type project and it’s not being developed as actively as their other, more important projects. It should be noted that the iTV has managed to build quite a large base of followers interested in its development progress though, something which apparently even Apple themselves didn’t foresee.

How this will play out, and whether the iTV will catch on – we can’t really tell. The device looks like it has some potential for becoming popular on the market, but only time will tell if it can live up to the hype.
