Samsung Epic 4G on Sprint from August 31; Carrier Unveils ‘Reserve Your Handset’ Mode of Sale

August 12, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

This is something we all have been waiting for. Sprint has made it official that the Samsung Epic 4G will roll out on its network starting on August 31. The launch is going to be different, something we have never seen before. Sprint, will be for the first time ever, offering customers the option of reserving the Samsung Epic 4G for purchase. Doesn’t that sound alluring?

So what you just need to do is go reserve your new Samsung Epic 4G for purchase at the Sprint site this Friday (August 13). If you happen to be among the many who are expected to reserve their handsets, you will be one of those who will be able to complete your purchase between August 31 and September 1. You will also be able to pick your handset online too and pocket the full retail experience, including Sprint’s Ready Now service, says the carrier.

The new unique marketing strategy means that instead of doing the standard pre-order, you will know that you are among the first to get the handset if you reserve your Epic 4G device. The device will be available at Sprint stores, Best Buy, RadioShack and Walmart too. For a price of $249.99 and a two-year contract plus the $100 mail-in rebate, the device would be yours. That seems a sweet price considering that you would get to taste the smart 4G handset that comes with a 4-inch display and 4G connectivity.

Apart from the 4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, the Epic 4G will give you features that include a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, a full physical QWERTY keyboard on a slider, Samsung TouchWiz 3.0 User Interface and will run Android 2.1. The ability to connect to Sprint’s 4G WiMAX network would bring in the world for you.
