Microsoft Goes All Out and Attacks Mac in Ad

August 10, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

It’s battlefield on the ad terrain for Microsoft and Apple. If you thought the long-running Mac vs PC duel had mellowed down over the years, think again. There is ample proof that the battle is fought in severe terms even now. The latest is that Microsoft has outed a new web-based ad reasoning why Mac is inferior compared to a Windows PC.

Among the many aspects that Microsoft has listed out to kill the Mac are some hard hitting statements. One runs thus: You can’t get a Mac that ships with a Blu-ray player, TV tuner, memory stick reader, or built-in 3G wireless. Another blatant snipe is that things just don’t work the same way on Macs if you’re used to a PC. Even the mouse works differently, reasons Microsoft.

Further still, Microsoft has alleged that sharing files with PC users can be a tricky proposition with a Mac! Pointing out that on a Mac, a user will have to manually set up photo sharing, manually set up music and movie sharing, manually set up file sharing, printer sharing et al, the Redmond company goes on to say that when Macs only come in white or silver, Windows PCs come in a full range of hues across different price points. (Take a look at the image below to know what all has Microsoft listed to beat the Apple Mac.)

May be, Microsoft has a few points there, but not all are to be swallowed without a pinch of salt. But then, these are just marketing gimmicks, don’t you think so?
