Canon is most likely to unveil its long-awaited new DSLRs soon. Canon Poland has reportedly sent out invitations for an August 26th event, and reports suggest that the event might see the launch of the new Canon EOS 60D and EOS 1Ds Mark IV. The entire features of the 60D are not available, but the camera will apparently boast of an 18-megapixel sensor.

The camera would be the first Canon DSLR with a swiveling screen. For people using their DSLR as a video device frequently, the swiveling LCD could help a lot. But no news is available on how much swivel is provided; most probably it flips out to the left side and turns 180 degrees. It will also share1080p video of the 7D and T2i, but has been optimized for video.

Little is known about the 1Ds Mark IV. It would probably come with higher light sensitivity and 1080p video. There is no news on the pricing of the two cameras too.

Speculations however have started flying around with regard to the pricing and it is expected that the 60D will most probably be priced around $1200 (body only), and positioned right between the 7D and T2i. Whether or not the cameras are launched by August 26, there is a chance that Canon will be unveiling two or three pro or semi-pro camera bodies in the Photokina expo, which starts in Germany on September 21.
