ASUS B Series Notebooks Spruced Up With Long-Running Batteries

August 10, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Asus has announced a new line of notebooks that will feature Sonata batteries from Boston-Power. Significant about this feature is that the new Asus B Series laptops will boast of longer-running lithium-ion cells. The company claims that they would last with 80 percent of their original capacity for three years. Doesn’t that mean that though it may not give long life in your day-to-day use, you won’t have to run for another battery for sometime? Along with the claims, Asus is offering a three year warranty for the battery.

The new B series portables will be joining select HP laptops in offering the Sonata batteries. The Sonata is featured in both the 14.1-inch B43 and 15.6-inch B53 laptops, which are available with your choice of Intel core i5 or i7 processors. The new line of notebooks will be equipped with Integrated Intel graphics or ATI Mobility Radeon 5470 graphics card, and 2GB or 4GB of RAM. It comes with a 320 GB hard drive although customers can choose several hard drive capacities. It also comes with ATI Eyefinity support to accommodate two additional displays.

The B53 version will be available immediately in retail shops with a price tag of $1,099. There is no news available on the cost and the launch date of the B43 version.
