Swann Security has announced what it calls is its most versatile camera and video recorder to date. The Outback Cam is developed to stay out in the weather for long periods of time, thanks to its rugged, all-weather casing. The camera, equipment and the built-in DVR will not suffer any damage even if there is heavy rain, snowfall or any other rough climates. And it has multi-faceted mounting options which make it easier to hang it almost anywhere. Doesn’t that sound too good?

The Outback comes with a 2 megapixel color camera, and it would also boast of video recording capabilities. It can also snap photos. Based on your preference, it can capture crystal clear images in color or black and white. Video recording is triggered by motion detection or you can set it up at a particular time. This can be activated on the internal menu and LCD display.

Videos are recorded in the AVI format and images in JPEG. It comes equipped with15 infrared LEDs which makes night vision possible. It has a night vision range of up to 32 feet. It has a video resolution of 640 x 480 and image resolution of 1600 x 1200 (High) and 1280 x 1024 (Low).

The entire data is stored in a 2GB removable SD card, but the device is capable of supporting a 32GB SD card. The cam runs on 4 AA batteries and it has a USB port which allows easy access to the photos and videos. The entire package will be available soon, and will have a price tag of about $150.
