HP Mini 5103 Netbook Being Readied; To Offer Choice of 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 or 1.86GHz Intel Atom N475 Processor

HP is lining up a new business class netbook range and the first in line is going to be the HP Mini 5103. To be rolled out incorporating either a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 or 1.86GHz Intel Atom N475 processor, the device is expected to be a clear take off from the earlier HP Mini 5102 I.

However, one difference is that the 5103 would support faster DDR3 memory. The difference in performance between the two devices would more or less be minimal. HP is expected to bring with the Mini 5103 a slew of premium features, including a 7200RPM hard drive, an accelerometer to shut off the hard drive in case it suffers a fall, and a magnesium alloy exterior.

An optional Broadcom HD video accelerator would be part of the pack. Further, the HP Mini 5103 would also come with an optional touchscreen display, choice of a hard drive or solid state disk, and a choice of operating systems including SUSE Linux, Windows 7 Starter, or Windows 7 Home Premium.

Likely to be available initially in Italy, the HP Mini 5103 is likely to be sold for something between €482 and €597. We are looking at seeing the device in the US too soon after the Italian roll out
