The upcoming Samsung Galaxy tablet, tipped as the first genuine iPad rival ever, is likely to arrive named either the Galaxy Tab or Galaxy Tape.  Speculations regarding the Samsung device’s nomenclature are rife and it is expected that an official unveiling might happen on August 11.

The device is to run Android 2.2 and will be driven by a 1.2 GHz A8 processor. Features will include a Super AMOLED screen, 16 GB of internal storage, 32 GB MicroSD expansion. The Samsung Galaxy tablet would put to good use the Samsung’s TouchWIZ user interface and would sport the looks that would remind you of a Samsung Galaxy S smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy tablet, all of 0.82 pounds in weight, is likely to come with at least seven inches of screen space. Rumors of such a tablet in the works have been there all over the internet. With a possible August 11 official announcement coming up, we have enough reasons to believe that the iPad competitor is almost here. Are you ready for the battle of the tablets? Gear up!
