T-Mobile teases HSPA+ device website ; possibly the Vanguard/G1 Blaze/Vision

July 28, 2010, By Thomas Antony

Rumors about the upcoming high-end slider smartphone from T-Mobile hit a new level with the launch of a website by T-Mobile for what is supposed to be the “World’s first HSPA+ Smartphone”. Also hidden in some comments in the page source is the following text:

Hostname: first-hspa-smartphone.t-mobile.com
Server: SIDEKICK-WEB04
IP: 63.131.147.59
Time: 7/28/2010 2:17:55 PM
Application ID: hspa_/LM/W3SVC/74/ROOT-1-129248247273100455
Framework Version: 0.4.1007.439

This indicates the “Vanguard” is indeed the device that will become the first HSPA+ T-Mobile phone. The Vanguard is also known as the Vision/G1/Blaze/Unicorn. The website itself doesn’t contain any info or images of the upcoming device. From the placeholder image shown, we can guess that the phone will be something large.

Earlier rumors tell us that the upcoming slider will sport a 3.7 inch screen, a 4-row QWERTY slideout keyboard, optical trackpad and Android 2.1 OS powered by a 1GHz processor. The rumors have the device launching sometime in September.
