The highly anticipated entry-level DSLR from Nikon-D3100 is just weeks away from its launch and although not confirmed by the brand as yet, the gadget lovers are hoping to see it at the Nikon a press week in Europe from August 16 to 20. If the grapevine is to be trusted, Nikon will hold two simultaneous events where one will be dedicated to revealing a new lineage of (point and shoot) Coolpix cameras while the other will showcase the D3100 entry-level DSLR.

Nikon D3100 is a new age DSLR that sports a 10MP CMOS sensor and what is more is that it will be blessed with the ability to record videos as well. The recording will happen at 080p at 24fps or 720p at 30fps, making the D3100 one of the very few entry-level DSLR’s with such functions.

We will have more for you on the D3100 as we enter into August elated to see a special entry-level DSLR breaking cover. On a personal note, it will be interesting to see whether the D3100 fills in the the void between the D3000 and the D5000 SLRs from Nikon or not? Also, we will love to see what influence the D3100 release has on the Canon G11.

There is every chance that the Europeans will get their first opportunity to lay their hands on this new age DSLR on August 19 and we are just hoping that Nikon replies in the affirmative before the scheduled press event.
