Sprint Epic 4G Launch Date Hinted for Around August 20

Samsung has reportedly given a clue pointing to Sprint’s variant of the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone, called Epic 4G, to be launched around August 20. Samsung has posted on its site that the company has scheduled the release of the demo video for the Epic 4G on their television support website at 4.30 pm EST on that particular day.

The demo video release date is being linked with the launch date of the smartphone as the launch of other Galaxy S variants such as T-Mobile’s Vibrant and AT&T’s Captivate have also taken place within a few days of its demo video release by Samsung. However, since Sprint has traditionally preferred its phones to be launched on Sundays, the Epic 4G has been rumored to become available from August 22 onwards.

The Epic 4G is different from other phones in the Galaxy S range as it has a physical QWERTY keyboard and is capable of functioning on the WiMax network. It will be the second 4G-enabled phone available from Sprint during its launch, and will feature a Hummingbird processor of 1GHz speed. A Super AMOLED screen and a 5 megapixel camera will also be present in the phone.
