Sarah Palin Post on Facebook Removed, Internal Investigation Underway

July 22, 2010, By Radimir Bobev

Recently, a highly controversial post appeared on Sarah Palin’s official Facebook page, which caused quite a lot of commotion in the Internet community – and now the post has mysteriously vanished, with some speculating that a campaign to remove the post is responsible for the ordeal.

In the post in question, Sarah Palin expressed strong negativity towards the idea of building a mosque in New York several blocks from the location of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks – which, as most of you probably remember, were performed by Muslim extremists. According to Palin, building such a mosque would’ve been highly insulting to the families of those who suffered in the terrorist attacks.

The result of the post was a campaign which attempted to have it taken down for violating Facebook’s terms of service, as the people behind the campaign claimed they saw the post as racism and even hate speech. Afterwards, the post actually did disappear, and it’s currently not known what lead to this – according to Facebook, they’re performing an investigation to find out what happened.
