Microsoft Kinect To Get Halo, Gears of War And Fable After 18 Months?

Microsoft’s Kinect for the Xbox 360 gaming console, could get “hardcore” games such as Halo, Gears of War and Fable after 18 months, i.e. around January 2012, according to the company’s vice president for Interactive Entertainment Business, Chris Lewis.

The Kinect, which will be available for sale from November 4 onwards, will feature a collection of games such as Kinect Sports, Kinectimals and Dance Central aimed at the casual gamer, rather than the traditional, hardcore gamer. However, Chris Lewis has mentioned that though Kinect will target the casual gaming market initially, the company will not ignore the needs of the core Xbox 360 gamers.

Chris has also stated that the amount of time devoted for Xbox 360 games such as Halo Reach, Fable III and Gears of War 3 during the Microsoft press conference at the E3 event held earlier this year, was testimony to the company’s dedication towards its core gaming audience. However, Microsoft has never mentioned that these games are being developed for playability on the Kinect.

The Kinect for Xbox 360 allows gamers to use motion control technology to control their gaming avatars on screen. This eliminates the need for a physical game controller, as the players themselves become the controller. The device will become available for a price of $150 during its launch, as a standalone bundle that includes a dual-camera Kinect sensor bar and the Kinect Adventures game collection.
