HP’s Slate Not Dead Yet?

July 21, 2010, By Radimir Bobev

Most of you probably consider the HP Slate a dead project by now, as most rumors have been pointing to this lately. However, there have been some recent developments that may indicate that the device is far from dead and is “slated” to make it on the market eventually. One of these has been a certain page on HP’s website, which gives some details about the upcoming device.

The page discusses the device calling it the “HP Slate 500″, and mentions Windows 7 Premium and a 8.9” screen among other things. Also, the device will feature full Internet access (duh), as well as two cameras, one dedicated to shooting pictures and another for videos – an interesting solution which should improve quality of both quite a bit.

There are other interesting functions too – for example, it will mimic the iPad’s horizontal/vertical independence, while also offering you the ability to use a pen for writing on the display (unlike Apple’s tablet which is oh-so-demanding to feel your fingers and nothing else). Last but not least, it comes with a pair of headphones. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is pretty much all the page tells us – for now.
