HTC Desire Android 2.2 Froyo Update Unofficially Available?

July 13, 2010, By Atul Roach

HTC Desire users have long awaited the OTA update of the latest Android OS version dubbed the Android 2.2 Froyo. Sadly, despite various people claiming to know the release date of the Froyo update for Desire, the update is still due for arrival. With six months out of the way in this year, we are now hoping that the OTA Android 2.2 update for the HTC Desire happens in Q3 or at least Q4,2010.

That was just about it about the official OTA update and if the unofficial mediums also tend to attract you at times, you will be glad to know that Android 2.2 Froyo can be ported to the HTC Desire right away, thanks to some crazy developer who found the ‘wait’ painful.

The wait can ofcourse be painful as the Froyo update brings along 720p HD video recording capabilities, WiFi hotspot, App Sharing, a new kernel, new radio, and new base-to name a few.

The Froyo build for the HTC Desire from udK_dev has been coded as FRF-85B and all you need is the HTC Desire to download and install it right away. There might be some bugs in there, but that you can take for granted as it is an unofficial way to get the update ported.
