iPhone 4 Jailbreak Tool Not Coming From GeoHot; Other iPhone 4 Jailbreaks On The Way

July 12, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Well-known hacker GeoHot has said that he might not release the jailbreak tool that he created for Apple’s iPhone 4 device, due to reasons that are not technical, but personal in nature. However, iPhone Dev Team has confirmed through its twitter page that they are in the final stages of creating their iPhone 4 jailbreak tool and will release it soon.

GeoHot, who gained fame by hacking various gadgets including the PlayStation 3 gaming console, has said that he will not release the iPhone 4 jailbreak as the device users will never be satisfied and will constantly demand more such as unlocking and untethering.

He has also clarified that earlier rumors about his releases of iPhone jailbreak tools called limera1n and pwned4life are completely false and even a picture of an iPhone 4 handset running Cydia on the hacker’s blog is a fake one.

However, Musclenerd, a member of the iPhone Dev Team has tweeted to say that they are in the final stages of creating and releasing their iPhone 4 jailbreak tool.

He had earlier mentioned that Apple was not waiting for them to create their jailbreak tool so that it could plug the relevant loopholes in its iOS 4.0.1 update. He added that the company would never wait for a jailbreak tool to release their update and will only fix the security holes that are already known to everyone.
