Nokia N8 Specs & Features Detailed by Company Officials

Officials at Finnish handset manufacturing company Nokia have revealed the specifications and features of its upcoming N8 handset. The phone is considered to be Nokia’s flagship model as it is the first handset to run on Symbian^3 OS and will allow users to familiarize themselves with the new mobile platform.

The 3.5-inch AMOLED display of the Nokia N8 has a resolution of 640×360 pixels and is capable of displaying 16 million colors. The screen is also a capacitive multi-touchscreen with gesture control such as pinch-to-zoom. Text input on the device is possible due to the vertical keypad as well as the QWERTY keypad that can be activated on the screen.

The internal memory of the N8 has a capacity of 16 GB. External memory card of up to 32 GB capacities can be added to the phone to increase its total memory. A 256 MB RAM is also present in the phone that is intended to increase the speed of operation of the phone as compared to previous handsets such as the N97 Mini that had a RAM capacity of just 128 MB.

The N8 has a 12 megapixel camera that is capable of recording HD videos of 720p resolution. The videos in the phone can also be viewed on an external HD display unit using the HDMI output port present in the device. An HDMI mini connector and adapter are also available with the phone. Connectivity in the handset is possible through Bluetooth 3.0, USB and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n. The 1200 mAh BL-4D battery present in the device has been said to be capable of powering the phone for up to 12 hours of talk time.

The phone will come in silver, dark gray, green, orange and blue of which a minimum of three colors will be available in different regions during its launch.
