Samsung Epic 4G Preview Video Appears Online

June 30, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

A preview video for the Epic 4G handset from Samsung, which was previously named Galaxy S Pro, has appeared on the Internet. The Epic 4G phone shown in the video is already switched on and the screen of the phone as well as a video playing on the device are shown in the video.

The Epic 4G has many features which are similar to those on other phones in Samsung’s Galaxy S range such as the Fascinate, Captivate and Vibrant. However, connectivity through a 4G network and a front-facing camera are features that are present only in the Epic 4G.

The four buttons at the bottom of the Epic 4G’s 4-inch screen are touch-sensitive as opposed to the physical buttons on other similar phones. Though the phone’s screen is slightly glossy, it is very bright owing to the presence of Super AMOLED for the screen.

The preview video for the Epic 4G phone also shows various applications opening very quickly on the device as well as the increased responsiveness of the phone, thanks to the 1 GHz Hummingbird processor that is present within. A video that was played on the phone started without any lag from a randomly chosen point on the slider.

Samsung had announced that the Epic 4G will get Android 2.2 as an update though it will carry Android 2.1 as the OS during launch. Qik video chat app is also present on the phone for making video calls using the front facing camera. Swype technology features in the device as another mode of text input beside the slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard that is present in the phone.  The device offers support for the mobile hotspot app as well. Samsung has not revealed the pricing or launch date for the Epic 4G smartphone yet.
