Facebook Blocks Parts of Twitter’s Facebook App

June 24, 2010, By Radimir Bobev

Twitter recently introduced their Facbook app, which allows users to easily find who of those in their friends list has a Twitter account, but this was quickly stopped by Facebook today. The app no longer works and displays an error message, stating that Twitter is “working with Facebook to resolve the problem”.

A Facebook spokesperson has very recently confirmed that the problem is coming from an intentional block on the app made on Facebook’s end, though they were actually working with Twitter to put an end to the problems. However, no information has been given in terms of possible time of completion, or if the feature is going to be available again at all.

A similar incident involving Plaxo’s Facebook application can be traced back to 2008, when Plaxo created a tool that could download data from Facebook and import it into its own records, in order to keep both in check. Facebook stopped this by kicking the users who were alpha-testing the application, due to violation of its TOS.
