June 24, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

DC Comics has released its own app for the iPad, iPhone and PlayStation Portable to make its comics such as Batman, Green Lantern and Sandman available on the devices. iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users can access the comics by downloading the app from Apple’s iTunes app store and Sony PSP users can get the comics through the Comics Store on the PlayStation Network.

Though the app can be downloaded free of charge, users will have to pay $1 to $3 for each individual comic. Users can also simply browse through different comic series or choose to be alerted via push notifications when new issues are released for a particular comic.

The DC Comics app powered by Comixology for Apple’s devices includes different features for reading such as the Guided View to get a full page view as well as a panel-by-panel view. Users can also manage their collection of comics and access them at anytime on their Macintosh, iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.

DC has released more than 100 titles for its iPhone and iPad app and 80 titles for the PlayStation handheld device. These include titles for children such as Teen Titans and classic characters such as Superman. Modern titles such as Fables and The Losers are also available through the app.
