Apple iPhone 4 Orders Being Shipped Early

June 21, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Apple has been reported to begin shipping of the iPhone 4 quite early. Certain customers have already received shipment notifications from Apple stating that the device will be delivered by June 24 when the iPhone 4 starts retailing in stores.

The orders, which were previously marked as “prepared for shipment” since last Friday, are now being shipped from Lantau Island in Hong Kong through FedEx. The delivery company expects the packages to be delivered the customers by 4.30 pm on June 24, though some customers have June 23 mentioned as the delivery date on their shipment notifications.

Apple could have requested for the devices to be shipped early but it may have asked the delivery to be delayed till the official launch date. However, similar incidents had taken place in the past during the Apple iPad launch when shipping for some customers had started one or two days before the announced ship date.

Apple had earlier received more than 600,000 pre-orders worldwide excluding in-store orders. The company also faced a number of issues in the pre-ordering process and it was also reported that it had cancelled several legitimate orders from customers.
