Verizon Likely to Stop Unlimited Data Plans Soon

June 18, 2010, By Radimir Bobev

AT&T recently moved on to some tiered data plans, and it seems that Verizon are liking the idea and are planning on following through by shutting down their unlimited data plans sometime in the near future – or, to put it in more precise terms, by the end of the year.

This was made apparent by a comment by Verizon’s CFO John Killian, in which he basically said that the company is looking into dropping unlimited data plans. The company is apparently also in the process of finalizing the deal on their brand new 4G data plans, and even though there are no specific details about those yet, they’re supposed to be coming on the market soon.

From what we can see, 4G is to blame for all this yet again, as the increased traffic demands that it brings will likely make unlimited data plans not really feasible for carriers. So, it looks like this is about it for your happy browsing – make the most of it while you still can.
