At this year’s E3 event, Sony is taking out the big guns towards competitors by announcing the new Playstation Plus, a premium for-pay version of the PlayStation Network. While the PSN will still be available for both pay and free users, the new Playstation Plus is going to bring a few goodies for those who can afford the $49 annual fee or $18 for three months.

The premium features on the new PS Plus include exclusive in-game DLC and lots of premium content, free full games that change each month, access to demos and betas before anyone else, and the auto-patching feature that supposedly detects, downloads and installs updates for you.

Wipeout HD, a demo for inFamous, Fieldrunners, Age of Zombies and Rallycross are just a few of the names that you’ll get for free throughout July, along with all sorts of themes and avatars. On top of that we’re hearing that Plus subscribers are going to be be able to send voice messages to other gamers which comes in handy if you’d like to invite your friends to play.

Sony is going to offer the first three months for free, so how about that folks, are you going to subscribe to the new Playstation Plus? If you do, remember, you will lose access to all the free content you downloaded until now.
