Skype Mobile App for Verizon Phones To Get New UI and More Language Support

June 11, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Verizon has announced that the Skype mobile app that is available on Verizon phones will receive a range of new features including a brand new user interface and support for languages such as simple Chinese and Korean. Verizon will also make the app available on more phones in its network that are equipped with 3G and multimedia features.

Dialling international numbers will be made easier in the new UI with a drop down menu that has flags. The number of phones in the Verizon network featuring the Skype mobile app will also be increased in order to include lower-end phones in addition to the 12 smartphones that are already equipped with the app.

The introduction of support for new languages for the app will allow the app to be used by a wider range of users as it is currently available only in the English and Spanish languages.

The new features for the Skype app are expected to release later this year though Verizon has not specified any launch dates for them.
