Sony VAIO P second generation ultraportable on preorder now ; shipping on June 25th

Sony’s stylish ultraslim ultraportable VAIO P second-gen notebook is now on preorder at the US Sony Style webstore. Its priced one cent short of the $900 mark ( that is $899.99 ) and is expected to ship by June 25th. The new version comes with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor and 2GB RAM.

The new Sony VAIO P has the usually connectivity features like WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, multiformat card reader and sports an 8” 1600×768 LCD. The graphics is powered by Intel GMA 500 GPU and keeping with the ultraportable “tradition”, storage is in the form of a 128 GB SSD. Other features include a built-in MOTION EYE camera and microphone with face tracking technology. With the new builtin accelerometer, you can also rotate the whole machine through 90 degrees to view content in portrait mode. The notebook comes preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium.

VAIO P Series is the also first notebook computer from Sony with built-in GPS and a new Digital Compass.A brand-new VAIO Location Search software offers a real-time map view without tying up your web browser. Your map position and orientation are displayed along with nearby Points of Interest and even local weather conditions.

In terms of looks, the VAIO P really shines. With a thickness of just 0.78” and weighing just 1.3 lbs ( 600g ), it is small enough to be pushed into your backpocket. The standard battery  gives a runtime of upto 4.5 hours. The new Sony VAIO P comes in a choice of 5 colors. Neon Green, Icy White, Classic Black, Electric Orange, and Hot Pink.
