Sony Ericsson readying an Android smartphone with a 5.5-inch display and slideout keyboard

Is Sony Ericsson readying a smartphone with a 5.5-inch screen and a slide-out keyboard? A leaked image found in the wild points to something of that sort. Take a look at the picture and it reveals a keyboard somewhat similar to the Eking S515 and the HTC Shift. Though not many details are available right now, it sure looks like a prototype that is raring to arrive soon.

From what we see in the leaked image, the prototype seems to be running Android 2.1. Or is it the 2.2? We get to know that the device could be an Android 2.1 device as Sony Ericsson has not yet announced any plan to roll out an Android 2.2 as yet. The image also brings to the fore that the real device is yet to be tested as it very much resembles a prototype and nothing more than that.

Tipsters who have managed to tell the world on this phone point out that the phone could be coming to our midst with a  tilting 5.5-inch user interface, and a sliding, physical QWERTY.

Justa prototype this phone is as of now, but then there are many who believe they could anticipate the arrival of the device by the coming fall. Let’s wait to see it then.
