Samsung has this thing for hybrid DSLR’s and the company keeps its ardent fanatics entertained by releasing shooters belonging to this category from time to time. The latest arrival is the NX5 which happens to be the younger cousin of the NX10 and the more affordable one as well. There was surely a group of people waiting for Samsung to announce the smaller NX series derivative and their prayers have definitely been answered with the NX5 introduction.

What they may not like at this point in time is the price sticker of €699, but they can have my word, Samsung will keep lowering that price as the time keeps moving on. What the fanatics will admire is that the NX5 has retained most of the NX10 features minus the AMOLED screen.

The NX5 instead gets a 3-inch LCD panel but the rest of traits are all in place. The NX5 gets the same 14.6 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor as well as the electronic viewfinder that is found on the NX10.

Other common features include a similar selection of NX-mount lenses to choose from. The exact release date hasn’t been announced, but Samsung expects to make the NX5 public by the end of this month.
